Do they seriously expect us to believe that airport expansion would mean less noise and air pollution? Plus if we stick within UK aviation CO2 targets, significant expansion of SE flight demand would be possible only at the expense of regional airports. Therefore regional jobs in aviation would simply be swapped for London ones.
Gatwick Airport Ltd has not paid Corporation Tax for three years. Nevertheless, the Government is likely to help facilitate expansion of this private company using Taxpayers money for road and rail improvements. Since the Taxpayer is paying for most transport links anyway, why not change the transport model and improve road and rail links to the currently underused Channel Tunnel link instead to help reduce short haul flights?
